What is SP-230802 – Intermediate Emergency First Aid Responder?
This course is for professionals currently employed, that need to attend a First Aid Course and require more skills and knowlege than what is found in the Basic Emergency First Aid Responder Course, where they require QCTO/NQF credits for the company’s Skills Development Levy, or for learners that require QCTO/NQF credits to go towards a bigger qualification/Skills Programme. Please note we only teach this course for Groups/Companies and do not run the course for individuals at this time.
Pre-Requisits
Learners need to be in possession of a valid QCTO SP-230801 – Basic Emergency First Aid Responder certificate.

Course Duration
How long does the course take?
- This course is four full days of classroom time with an instructor, followed by on-the-job workplace training.
- After completing the classroom portion, you will go home with a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which you will need to complete at work, and then submit back to us within two weeks.
- The POE then gets assessed, moderated and then sent to QCTO for verification.
- Certificates and Statements of Results (SOR) are issued by QCTO and may take a few weeks to become available.
Specific Outcomes
The following outcomes are covered though the training to allow learners to:
- Demonstrate the principles of primary emergency care.
- Assess and control a single injury emergency scene in the workplace.
- Demonstrate primary emergency life support for adults, children, and infants.
- Explain and manage shock.
- Carry out secondary assessment of the sick or injured person and provide appropriate primary emergency care at the scene.
- Keep records of the incident/accident.
